
Harun Rashid, the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Akron Children’s Hospital, has more
than 25 years of Information Services experience. He came to Children’s from the University of
Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where he most recently served as Vice President for Global Health
Services and Vice President for Tele-Health Services. Mr. Rashid has held several Chief Information
Officer Positions in large scale healthcare integrated delivery networks at Rush Health Systems, Gateway
Health Systems and Jefferson Regional Medical Systems. He has also served as the Senior Vice President
over the Rural and Community Division for Phoenix Health System Hospitals nationwide.
At Akron Children’s, Harun is deeply engaged in Digital Health transformation along with other
responsibilities with Information Technology, Enterprise Analytics, Healthcare Technology Management,
Health Information Management, Clinical Informatics, Electronic Health Record, and Cybersecurity.
Mr. Rashid has been recognized as one of the Top 100 CIOs in the country by CIO Magazine. He has
successfully led multiple organizations “Most Wired” national status along with “HIMSS-7” and “HIMSS
Davies” certification.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Business Management from the
University of W. Alabama and earned an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the
University of Arkansas.
